Golfer's Elbow
Pain on the inner elbow from overuse of the forearm flexor muscles.
About this condition
Golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis) affects the tendons on the inside of the elbow. Like tennis elbow, it's often caused by repetitive gripping, throwing, or flexing activities - not necessarily golf. It causes pain and tenderness on the inner elbow, and weakness when gripping.
Common symptoms
- Pain and tenderness on the inner side of the elbow
- Weakness in the hand and wrist
- Pain when flexing the wrist against resistance
- Stiffness in the elbow
- Numbness or tingling into the ring and little finger
Who should I see?
Our specialists who are best placed to help with golfer's elbow.
Tendon loading rehabilitation is the primary treatment approach. A sports therapist will design a programme specifically for the flexor-pronator tendon group with an appropriate return to activity.
Book Sports TherapyOsteopaths assess and treat the elbow, wrist, shoulder, and cervical spine - as golfer's elbow symptoms can overlap with nerve entrapment - and use soft tissue techniques to reduce pain.
