Conversation
We discuss your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and what you would like help with.
Osteopathy uses hands-on techniques to assess and support a wide range of musculoskeletal concerns affecting the bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. At SoCo Therapies, we assess carefully and explain when another healthcare professional or further investigation is more appropriate.
Your appointment begins with a conversation about your medical history, lifestyle, symptoms, and the specific issue you are experiencing.
We observe your posture and movement, and may ask you to perform specific motions to assess how your joints and muscles are functioning.
After discussing the assessment, your plan may include soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisation, manipulation, movement advice, or referral for further review when appropriate.
Your local osteopath in Bournemouth
Osteopathy is a hands-on approach to assessing and supporting musculoskeletal concerns. Your appointment begins with a conversation and movement assessment, so your osteopath can understand the problem in the context of your health history, lifestyle, and everyday activities.
Treatment is tailored to you and may include soft tissue work, joint mobilisation, manipulation, movement advice, and simple exercises. We will also explain when a GP, specialist, or further investigation is the more appropriate next step.

Concerns we may assess
People may seek osteopathy for lower back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches, shoulder problems, joint stiffness, sports injuries, tennis elbow, hip pain, and changes in movement. These symptoms can have different causes, so we assess your individual situation rather than assuming one treatment will suit everyone.
Osteopathy may sit alongside rehabilitation, sports therapy, massage, or other healthcare. Explore Sports Therapy for structured support around injury and return to activity, or Chiropractic for another musculoskeletal assessment route.
Patient feedback
“I had a very painful neck and shoulder problem whereby the muscle kept locking up and was very debilitating. After two sessions with Jayde, I can move freely and have no pain. She is very skilled and has incredible skill and experience in supporting and fixing these types of issues.”
“I was referred to Jayde to help remedy some painful back, neck and shoulder issues I'd been experiencing for some time. She took time in my initial consultation to really check all my body movements, including a slight tremor that I'd had in my right arm for a few years. Over just a few weeks of treatment, I'm standing taller, and experiencing significantly less aches than before treatment. I highly recommend Jayde for her holistic approach to body health.”
“I have had a couple of sessions here now with Mike who is the Osteopath at SoCo and my back feels so much better already! He hasn't just treated me during my appointments but also gave me some exercises to take away and do at home which have been really helpful! I would definitely recommend him for treatment!”

Frequently asked questions
Osteopathy is a hands-on approach to assessing and supporting musculoskeletal concerns. An osteopath may consider how your joints, muscles, posture, movement, lifestyle, and health history relate to the symptoms you want help with.
Your first appointment starts with a conversation about your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and goals. Your osteopath will then assess posture and movement, explain their findings, and discuss suitable treatment or other next steps.
Treatment is tailored to you and may include soft tissue techniques, joint mobilisation, manipulation, movement advice, and simple exercises. Your osteopath will explain what they recommend and check your comfort throughout.
People may seek osteopathy for concerns such as back or neck pain, shoulder problems, headaches, sciatica, joint stiffness, sports injuries, and changes in movement. Similar symptoms can have different causes, so assessment and suitability come first.
Many people may be suitable, but osteopathy is not appropriate for every symptom or health history. Your practitioner will ask about your health, screen for reasons treatment may not be suitable, and advise when GP, specialist, or further medical assessment is more appropriate.
Where appropriate, your osteopath may suggest simple exercises, movement advice, or self-care strategies to support your goals between appointments. These recommendations are discussed with you and adapted to your ability and circumstances.
This depends on your symptoms, health history, goals, and response to care. Your osteopath will review your progress with you rather than promising a fixed number of appointments.
