Ingrown Toenail
A toenail growing into the surrounding skin, causing pain, redness, and sometimes infection.
About this condition
An ingrown toenail occurs when the edge of a toenail - most commonly the big toe - grows into the soft skin alongside it. It can cause significant pain, swelling, redness, and if left untreated, infection. Correct nail cutting technique and proper footwear are key to prevention.
Common symptoms

- Redness and swelling
- Tenderness when pressed
- Discharge or bleeding if infected
