Shoulder Pain

Aching, stiffness, or sharp pain in and around the shoulder joint.

About this condition

Shoulder pain has many possible causes - muscle strain, bursitis, tendinopathy, joint restriction, or referred pain from the neck. Because the shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body, it relies heavily on coordinated muscle function. When that breaks down - through injury, overuse, or postural habits - pain and restriction follow.

Common symptoms

  • Pain at the front, side, or back of the shoulder
  • Aching that extends down the upper arm
  • Difficulty reaching overhead or behind your back
  • Pain worsening with specific movements
  • Night pain when lying on the affected side
