What can I expect from Couples Therapy?

  • Your therapist will take the time to build up a shared understanding of each of your concerns and what you would like to get from therapy

  • The use of questionnaires to measure relationship satisfaction and identify areas of strength and weakness

  • We will build up a detailed understanding of what you are experiencing within the relationship, and what could be keeping things stuck.

  • We then work together to agree a clear treatment plan for our sessions, which will include learning tools and techniques to practice within and outside of sessions.

Is Couples Therapy right for us?

The evidence shows that couple therapy is most effective when:

  • You would like to work on the issues together as a couple

  • Neither of you have significant unresolved psychological issues e.g. trauma which might need to be worked on individually

  • You are able to dedicate time to practising skills outside of sessions

  • You are living together and committed to working on your relationship
