Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), often known as tapping, is a gentle therapeutic approach that combines elements of modern psychology with stimulation of specific acupressure points on the body. By lightly tapping on these points while focusing on thoughts, emotions or experiences, EFT can help calm the body’s stress response and reduce the emotional intensity connected to certain memories, beliefs or patterns.

EFT works with the close relationship between the mind, emotions and the body. When we experience stress, anxiety or difficult life events, the nervous system can remain in a heightened state of alert. Tapping on acupressure points while bringing attention to the issue can help regulate the nervous system, allowing emotions to be processed more easily and supporting the development of healthier emotional responses.

EFT can sometimes help shift the emotional intensity of experiences without needing to discuss difficult events in detail, which can feel more comfortable for those who find certain things hard to talk about.

EFT can be used as a standalone approach or integrated with other therapeutic methods such as hypnotherapy, life coaching, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Negative Neuro-Pathway Reversal Therapy (NNRT). Many clients find it both calming and empowering, and it is a technique that can often be learned and used independently between sessions to help manage stress and emotional challenges.

EFT may support clients with a wide range of challenges and goals, including anxiety and stress, overthinking, emotional overwhelm, confidence and self-esteem, limiting beliefs, fears and phobias, processing difficult experiences, and improving emotional regulation and resilience.

During a session, your practitioner will guide you through gentle tapping on specific points on the face, upper body and hands while exploring thoughts, emotions or experiences that may be connected to the issue you are working on. Sessions are collaborative and proceed at a pace that feels comfortable and safe for you. You will remain fully dressed throughout the session.

Sessions are available both face to face and online. A free initial consultation is offered to allow you to learn more about the approach and decide whether EFT feels like the right fit for you.
